Keep It Beautiful
Furniture Care Guide
Simple habits that keep good furniture beautiful.
Wood care
Dust with a soft, slightly damp cloth followed by a dry one. Use coasters and trivets, wipe spills promptly, and avoid harsh sprays that can build up on finishes.
Upholstery care
Vacuum fabric seating regularly with an upholstery attachment and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Address spills quickly by blotting - not rubbing - with a clean, dry cloth.
Leather care
Dust with a dry, soft cloth and keep leather away from direct heat sources. For deeper cleaning or conditioning, follow the guidance provided for your specific piece.
Sunlight
Prolonged direct sunlight fades fabric and can dry or discolor wood finishes unevenly. Position furniture out of strong direct light, or use window coverings during peak hours.
Moisture & humidity
Wood responds to humidity swings. Keep furniture away from damp areas, wipe up moisture promptly, and aim for a reasonably stable indoor climate.
Moving furniture
Lift rather than drag, get help with heavy pieces, and clear the path first. Dragging stresses legs and joints and can damage both furniture and floors.
Preventative habits
Tighten accessible fittings occasionally, keep pets' claws in mind on soft surfaces, and treat manufacturer care instructions as the final word for any specific piece. When in doubt about a cleaning product, test nothing - ask first.
Questions about a specific piece?
Care instructions provided with a piece always take precedence over general guidance. If you are unsure, ask us before using any product on your furniture.
